Let’s face it. Whenever you go into something new, you need advice from those who have gone before you. That is what we are here for. To get started there are three steps you must consider before you can officially launch your homeschooling adventure.
The first thing you will need to do in your venture to homeschool is clearly understand and be able to define to yourself why you are homeschooling. This is imperative because it will give you a solid psychological foundation upon which to base your effort and so help you weather the periods of adversity which may occasionally affect your homeschooling endeavor through the years.
The second thing will be to determine how your children will be taught, whether through a curriculum you yourself have designed or through a curriculum which a homeschooling organization has already pre-assembled for you or through a combination of the two.
The third thing is to find a support network to help you as you launch your endeavor. For homeschoolers, this is usually found in the form of a local homeschool co-op or homeschool group. Many members of these homeschool groups have already been through many of the decisions and scenarios you will find yourself going through and so will be an invaluable resource and support for you as you experience them for the first time.
